Tennessee-Martin, Missouri Valley Sweep Men’s and Women’s Titles at Boll Weevil Stampede Rodeo

           MONTICELLO, AR — Rodeo teams from the University of Tennessee-Martin and Missouri Valley College won the men’s and women’s team championships at the 2012 Boll Weevil Stampede hosted March 29-31 by the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
           Ten men’s teams and seven women’s teams competed in nine individual and team categories in the three-night event at the Drew County Fairgrounds.
           Missouri Valley finished second to UT-Martin in the men’s division, followed by East Mississippi Community College, Murray State, Southern Arkansas, West Alabama, Northwest Mississippi Community College, Troy, Mississippi State, and UAM.

           In the women’s division, Missouri Valley edged UT-Martin for first place. SAU finished third, followed by UAM, Troy, East Mississippi, and West Alabama.
           UAM’s best performances came in the women’s breakaway roping competition. Casey Parr of Carbondale, Ill., finished second with times of 2.9 and 3.0 seconds while Kristen Hancock of Morganfield, Ky., placed fourth with times of 2.8 and 5.6 seconds.
           Other UAM competitors included Colton Krieder of Danville, Ky., who had times of 10.2 and 9.9 seconds in the calf roping competition; Carson Kreider, also of Danville, Ky., who posted times of 9.4 and 10.3 seconds in goat tying and teamed with Wayne Still of Jonesboro in team roping; and Sarah Weber of Morton, Ill., who had times of 8.9 and 9.9 seconds in goat tying.
