Sandra Hatley's Lady Lumberjack basketball team is off to a good start for the 2013-2014 season. The girls have gone through their non-conference schedule and stand at 5-4. There are thirteen players on this years squad and Coach Hatley believes the team is posed to have a very good year.
The team finished 5th in the recent Camden Fairview Holiday classic. Along the way the Lady Jacks played several good teams and the following demonstrates their accomplishments:
December 26th Camden Fairview 58 Warren 44. Shamiqua Pickett had 23 points, Morgan Gathen had 12, Jalexia Oliver 3, Thalia Ramirez 3, Yakima Hegler 2 and Markeia Thomas 1 point.
December 27th Warren 48-Magnolia 44. Shamiqua Pickett scored 25 followed by Morgan Gathen with 13, Yakima Hegler with 6, Thalia Ramirez with 2, Jalexia Oliver with 4 and Samantha Marshall 1.
December 30th Warren 79-Stephens 70. Shamiqua Pickett was high point with 45, Morgan Gathen had 13, Thalia Ramirez 8, Yakima Hegler 5, Jalexia Oliver 4 and Markeia Thomas scored 4.points.
Coach Hatley thinks Dumas, Monticello, Hamburg and Crossett will be good along with the always excellent Star City team. She believes Warren will be most competitive.
The Jr. Lady Jacks are currently 3-1 and play next against Fordyce Monday January 6th The game is at home..
The Senior Lady Jacks open conference play with Star City Tuesday January 7th at Warren. All Warren fans are encouraged to be at the gym on Seminary Street and back this strong Lady Jack Team.
