The Donald W. Reynolds YMCA of Warren & Bradley County had opening night for the 2016 baseball season Monday night. Beginning the evening was the 10u Warren Orioles hosting the 10u Warren Cubs with a final score of 10-7 in favor of the Cubs. The second and final game of the evening was by played by the 12u Warren Raptors that were hosted by the 12u Hermitage Hermits. Hermitage came away with the victory 5-4. This was Bart Goodwin’s first opening night as the Donald W. Reynolds YMCA Sports Director. He faced many challenges from getting the field ready to making sure the concession stand was stocked. With the help of other staff members, volunteers, and sponsors, opening night was a success. This year, the Baseball program is dual aligning with Cal Ripken & USSSA baseball. The YMCA has also opted to not charge a gate fee in hopes of bigger crowds at the games. More food & drink options are being offered through the concession stand. We are looking forward to a great year ahead! We would like to say a special “Thank You” to some of our sponsors from last night’s games: Mallard Medical Supply & James Body & Glass.
