Ladyjacks Shut Out Hot Springs Lady Trojans

A 2 hour bus ride and a 5A school proved to be a good challenge for the Ladyjacks Friday night.  The ladies traveled to Hot Springs to take on the Lady Trojans in what was expected to be a good non-conference test.  The contest started off with the Ladyjacks dominating play on Hot Springs end of the field.  However, Warren was unable to find the back of the net, and get out to there usual fast start.  Coach Quoss said, "We didn't play our best soccer in the first half.  We faced a physical and aggressive defense and they proved to be a good challenge for us."  At halftime the game was still scoreless and the contest still up for grabs.  In the second half, the Ladyjacks came out with renewed energy and found their winning form.  Denisha Stallings midway through the half finally broke free from the Hot Springs defense and easily beat the goalkeeper with a low shot in the corner.  Just a few minutes later, Isabel Densmore struck with another goal on a perfect corner kick that curved into the goal to put Warren up 2 to 0. Finally, Hannah Richey finished off the scoring with another goal that beat the keeper to the corner.  Coach Quoss said, "My girls were tested tonight and they showed they have the will and heart to persevere when things are not going so well.  I still think we are going to be a hard team to beat going into the rest of our conference schedule."

Some ladies really stood out for their play Friday night, including Anne Yepes.  Anne turned away the Hot Springs attack time and time again. Anne along with Nicole Tinoco, Abby Torres, Taylor Domineck, and Karen Linares have not allowed a goal in the last 5 games.  "The defense is playing outstanding and those girls work so well together.  They take a lot of pride in shutting out the opponent," coach Quoss added.  Offensively, it's hard to point to just one person.  Rosa Bautista, Anahi Rostro, Kimmi Aguilar, Denisha Stallings, and Hannah Richey continue their terrific seasons and continue to cause havoc on opposing defenses.

The Ladyjacks play home again this Monday at 5 pm in a conference showdown with rival Monticello.  The Ladyjacks invite everybody watch as they chase down another conference win.
