WEEVILS BASEBALL JUMPS TWO SPOTS IN NATIONAL POLL

MONTICELLO — The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team is ranked No. 24 in this week’s Collegiate Baseball Newspaper NCAA Division II Top 30.

The Weevils (36-14) jump two spots after winning the Great American Conference Championship Tournament with a perfect 5-0 record and outscoring their opponents 52-16, highlighted by a 14-2 win over Henderson State on Saturday in the finals.

UAM flies to St. Cloud, Minnesota on Tuesday to compete in the NCAA Central Regional Tournament, starting on Thursday, May 19 against Missouri Western State. First pitch is 1:30 p.m. The Weevils need one win to break the school’s single-season record for victories.

Other regional tournament participants to be recognized in this week’s CBN Top 30 are Central Missouri (38-13) at No. 9, St. Cloud State (42-8) at No. 11 and Minnesota Duluth (39-14) at No. 29. Missouri Western (38-18) and Emporia State (37-17) received votes in this week’s poll.
