Soccer Use Underway at Renovated Axley Field

For many years Axley Field was the site for Warren Lumberjack football games.  A lot of history was left on the historic field during the first two thirds of the 20th century.  Now, after being remodeled and restructured for soccer, the site will be home to the fast growing game of soccer.  Using grant funds, the Warren School District in cooperation with the City of Warren has made improvements to the field which includes new lights, a new concession and restroom facility.  Brand new soccer nets have been installed and other improvements to the site.

Sunday, August 6th, soccer was played on the field.  It begins a new history of the historic site for the people of Warren and the Warren School district.  A very good crowd was on hand to cheer the teams on.

The future is bright for soccer in Warren.  The Warren Lumberjack boys team reached the finals of the Class 4A Championship this past Spring.  Axley Field will be used for youth soccer, including the Donald W. Reynolds YMCA and other organizations who need a field to play on.  The field remains under the ownership of the Warren School District and will be operated with cooperation with the City of Warren Parks & Recreation Department.

Axley Field has been the scene of many great games.  It will continue to serve the people of our community on into the 21st century.
