UAM Cheerleaders Host Youth Cheer Clinic

MONTICELLO - The University of Arkansas at Monticello cheerleading team hosted a youth cheer clinic on Saturday, September 16 with over 50 participants in attendance.

The kindergarten through seventh grade cheerleaders learned motions, jumps, tumbling, cheers, chants, and dances throughout the clinic, and later they performed at halftime of the Weevils game against East Central on Parent and Family Appreciation Day!

"This is our fourth year to host this clinic and it was a very exciting day for both the college cheerleaders and the youth cheerleaders of southeast Arkansas!," said head cheerleading coach Krystal Shipp.

The UAM Cheerleading squad is raising money to attend to college cheerleading nationals this spring, and all proceeds made from the youth cheerleading clinic will go towards the UAM competing at nationals as well.

Krista Sparks, of Warren, is one of the UAM cheerleaders.
