Lumberjacks Win Again

Treylon Burks scores for the Lumberjacks!
Many Arkansas football prognosticators thought the Ozark Hillbillies might give the Warren Lumberjacks a tough game, maybe for the first time in several weeks.  That thought lasted just a few plays before Warren struck fast and hard.

Warren won the toss and did something they seldom do; deferred to the second half.  Ozark chose to receive.  Warren's Jesus Tinoco promptly kicked off into the end zone and Ozark took over at their own twenty.  After one first down, the Lumberjacks forced a punt and took over at their own 35-yard line.  On the first offensive play quarterback J'malachi Kinnard hit Keemontrae McKnight for 65-yards and a touchdown.  Tinoco made the PAT and Warren was up quickly 7-0.

The ensuing kickoff left Ozark at their twenty seven.  Warren forced a punt at the 5:06 mark of the first quarter and the Jacks took over at their 31.  With 22 seconds remaining in the quarter, Treylon Burks running out of the quarterback position scored from four yards out.  Tinoco hit the PAT and Warren was up 14-0.  Tinoco again kicked off into the end zone.
An Ozark attempt to gain yards was denied by #53 Davis Pennington.

In the second quarter, Warren forced another punt and Ozark tried a fake.  It was stopped and Warren got the ball back at the Ozark 45.  With 8:19 left in the quarter, Burks raced 12-yards for a touchdown from the quarterback position.  The PAT was successful by Tinoco and Warren lead
21-0.  The next kick off was returned to Warren's 34 yard line and after a good run, Ozark scored from the Warren one and the point after made the score 21-7.

The Lumberjacks returned the kick off to their own 32 and with 3:42 remaining in the first half, Treylon Burks ran in for a touchdown from the three yard line and with the PAT by Tinoco, the Lumberjacks were up 28-7.  After kicking off to the Ozark 29, Warren got the ball back after another punt.  With little time left in the half Warren tried a long pass by Burks that was intercepted.  The Lumberjack Caleb Watson quickly intercepted the ball right back and Burks came close to breaking a 90-yard run to complete the half, ahead 28-7.

To begin the second half, Ozark attempted an on-side kick and Warren covered at their own 45.  After a short drive, Vincent Stepps ran in for a touchdown from eight yards and Tinoco was good with the PAT.  Warren was now ahead 35-7.  After the kick off Warren got the ball back but was forced to punt.  The Jacks forced a punt and with 1:41 remaining in the game J'malachi Kinnard broke off a twenty seven yard touchdown run and Tinoco made the score 42-7 invoking the sportsmanship rule.

Entering the fourth quarter, with the clock running continuously, the Warren defense made another great play.  J.J. Hampton picked up a fumble a raced 67 yards for a touchdown.  Tinoco hit the PAT and put Warren ahead 49-7.  Tinoco kicked off into the end zone.  With a lot of second team defenders in the game, Ozark was able to mount a drive and scored on a three yard run.  The point after was good and the game ended with Warren the victor 49-14.

The Lumberjacks now move to the quarterfinals of the class 4-A state playoffs and will face Prairie Grove at Jim Hurley, Jr. Stadium November 24th.  Prairie Grove is a good team and the Lumberjacks need a large crowd, fired up, to help the team reach the simi-finals.

This game was a team victory lice all the games have been this year.  Every player has contributed and the kids are obviously pulling for each other and supporting each other.  They are fun to watch!  Be there, Friday the 24th!
