Lady Jacks Finish Second/Boys Finish Third

The Warren Lady Jack Basketball team faced Monticello in the finals of the 8AAAA basketball tournament Friday night, February 16th in Dumas.  The Girls entered the game ranked in the top ten of class AAAA but faced a familiar and talented foe in Monticello.  In a hard fought game that was close until the fourth quarter, Monticello came out on top 55-46.  The Lady Jacks finished second in the tournament but will move on to the State Regionals next week to be held in Monticello.  The Girls enjoyed a very good season in 8AAAA.

Warren's Senior Boys played in the consolation game of the tournament and also battled Monticello, for third place.  In a fantastic game that went into overtime, the Lumberjacks won 54-49.  Warren trailed by as much as 20 points in the first half and looked like they might be beaten by the sportsmanship rule.  Near the end of the first half, the Jacks cut into the lead and in the second half came all the way back to win.  Treylan Burks triggered the comeback with 25 points and 19 rebounds.  Javion Robinson added 16.  It was an impressive come from behind win.  Each player contributed down the stretch with good ball handling and making some excellent shots and free throws.

A large Warren crowd was on hand to cheer both teams.  Both teams now move on to the Regional tournament in Monticello next week.  The Boys will play Thursday, February 22nd at 5:30 P.M., followed by the Girls at 7:00 P.M.  Warren fans are encouraged to attend and support these two very good basketball teams.
