All Sports Reception Honors Athletes and Hall of Famers

WHS Athletes awarded special honors during the reception.
Warren High School celebrated their athletes with an All-Sports Reception Monday night in the cafeteria of the school.  The evening began with a welcome from emcee Gregg Reep followed by the invocation given by sophomore Mark Hairston.  Athletic Director Bo Hembree recognized the Administration and Coaching Staff.

Reep then announced the following as inductees into the Lumberjack Sports Hall of Fame:  Jarius Wright, Greg Childs, Chris Gragg, Mark Jennings, Randall Herring, and the 1931 State Championship Basketball Team.  Accepting the award for Wight who could not be there due to practice schedules with the Carolina Panthers, was his mother Jeanette Hooper.  Chris Gragg who is now a member of the New York Jets team was present, along with much of his family, and while thanking the people of Warren reminded everyone that he is sponsoring his Grid Iron Grind football camp and Mini Cheer Camp in Warren this June.  He noted that all the proceeds will benefit the Donald W. Reynolds Y.  Accepting the award for Greg Childs was his father, Greg Childs, Sr.  Mark Jennings was honored as a booster of the Jacks.  Randall Herring thanked the committee for honoring him as a Lumberjack basketball player from the 1960's.  John Cuthbertson and Robert Cuthbertson, sons of Mr. James Cuthbertson who was a player on the 1931 basketball team, accepted the honor for the team that played and defeated three teams in one day of State Championship action, two of which were two of the largest schools in Arkansas.

Following the inductions, each sport other than football was recognized.  Lettermen awards, and individual awards were announced.  The top award of the night, the Dino Nichols Award, was presented to senior Avery Rhoden.  Selection for this award is based on a formula of the number of sports played and GPA among other things.
