Razorbacks Plan to Continue Playing Football in Little Rock

Sources are reporting that during a planned 10:00 A.M. press conference, to be held at War Memorial Stadium, May 17th, the University of Arkansas and the State Department of Parks and Tourism will announce an agreement to continue to have the Razorback football team play games at War Memorial Stadium.  The agreement calls for the Hogs to play the University of Missouri every other year in Little Rock and for the years when the teams play in Missouri, Arkansas will play their annual Red-White intrasquad game in Little Rock.

The Razorbacks have been playing football in Little Rock since 1948.  Many memorable games have been contested at War memorial over the years.  Playing games in Little Rock has been credited with making the Hogs a statewide supported program.  Many years ago, there were no lights on Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville so night games were played in Little Rock.  Of course, Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium has been enlarged and expanded and is now much larger than War Memorial, which means the U of A makes more money when games are played there.  Keeping games in Little Rock has been somewhat controversial, but appears to have been worked out with a compromise.  The new Arkansas Athletic Director and Football Coach have verbally been supportive of working out an arrangement.
