Monticello Team Wins Warren Ladies’ Golf Tournament

The team of  Jennifer Edson and Becky Carmichael one under par 71 to win the First Flight of the Warren Ladies Pink Tomato Scramble Wednesday, July 11, at Warren Country Club.  Forty-eight women from Camden, El Dorado,  Frenchman’s Bend in Monroe, LA, Fordyce, Prescott, Smackover, Monticello, Nashville, Norphlet, and Warren competed.   The team of Gay Anthony and Karen Russell of Fordyce placed second in the first flight with  an even par score of 72.  Six teams with 74 finished out the First Flight, but Shari Carson and Toni Findley of Monticello was carded to win third place.

In the second flight , the Fordyce team of Wanda Grice and Teresa Williams won first.  Second in this flight were Marguerite Branch and Stacia Green of Camden.  Brenda Hobbs and Sherry Ray of Nashville, AR, placed third.

The third flight was won by Diane Goodman and Jean Williams of El Dorado and second was the team  of Vicky Stewart of Warren and Karen Spears of Hot Springs..  Placing third were
Anne Cody of Norphlett and Maxine Canterberry of El Dorado.

Other Warren players were Lisa Higgins and Memory Frazer, Amanda West and Cindy
May, Nancy Vittitow and Shaun Anderson of West Helena, and Glenetta Burks and Sherri
Lammrish of Monroe, LA.

The prize for Longest Drive of the Day went to Gay Anthony of Fordyce. Straightest and Longest Drive was won by Shaun Anderson. and  Sherry Ray hit closest to the pin.

Glenetta Burks and Vicky Stewart co-chaired the event.  Vicky Stewart also chaired the
Breakfast Committee, and Nancy Vittitow chaired Snacks Committee; Memory Frazer and Lisa Higgins were in charge of water and soft drinks on the course.  Annette West of the local
Ladies’ Golf Association registered players.    Breakfast and dinner were provided by
Brandi Harvey, WCC manager, Mary Van,  and staff.

Members of the Men’s Golf Association furnished carts for the event, and cart
“valets” for the day were Joe Burks, Jr., Joe Burks, III,  Jimmy Courtney, Doyle Ozment, and Larry Stewart.
