Lumberjack Fall Practice Underway

The Warren Lumberjacks began fall camp Monday, July 29th.  The Sr. Lumberjacks and Jr. Jacks both began preparations for the 2018 football season.

Warren is the pre-season favorite to win the Class 4A championship by many pundits and media outlets.  They will have stiff competition both within conference 84A and from several other conferences within class 4A.  Warren returns a number of starters and lettermen from the 2017 team that finished runner-up by one point in class 4A.  Warren has several division one prospects and a strong tradition.

According to Head Football Coach Bo Hembree, the Sr. Jacks will practice the week of July 29th in the mornings and the following week will move to afternoon workouts.  Assistant coaches are as follows:
Robert Cuthbertson-running backs
Corey Muldrew-receeivers
Tyler Kell-offensive linemen
Blake Washington-offensive linemen
Steed White-defensive linemen
Jimmy May-defensive ends
George Shelton-linebackers
Michael Milum-defensive backs
Coach Steed White will be the Head Jr. Jack Coach and Coach Robert Cuthbertson will be in charge of the 7th grade team.

The Lumberjacks will assist with a Blue Cross/Blue Shield benefit event Thursday, August 9th at First Baptist Church of Warren.  It will be followed with a pep rally open to the public.  The Jacks will scrimmage the McGehee Owls Thursday, August 16th beginning at 6:30 P.M. at Jim Hurley, Jr. Stadium.  This will be open to the public.  The team opens the 2018 football season Saturday, August 25th at noon against Southside Batesville.  The game will be played at North Little Rock High School.

The 2018 team should be very competitive and will be led by several outstanding players including Marcus Miller and Treylon Burks, both of whom have just committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks.  Other players  including Keemontrae McKnight are considered college prospects.
Quarterback Jmalachi Kinnard is expected to play a key role in Warren's attempted run to a title and Junior Jesus Tinoco will be back to provide an outstanding kicking game
