Basketball Teams Fall Short At Star City

Vincent Stepps takes a shot inside.
Just a few weeks ago, the Warren Lumberjack Sr. Girls, Sr. Boys and Jr. Boys traveled to StarCity to play what should have been a home game in Warren, but was moved to Star City due to construction issues with the Warren gym.  That night the Jr. boys lost a very close game, the Sr. Girls beat Star City for the first time in years and the Sr. boys sportsmanship ruled Star City.  Friday night, February 1st proved to be a less enjoyable evening.

The Jr. Girls lost 36-14 and the Sr. Girls lost 49-33.  The Sr. Girls fell way behind in the first quarter and clawed their way back, getting to within three points in the fourth quarter, only to let the game get away.  Warren battled depth problems due to fouls and injuries.  They seemed to run out of gas, but made a valiant effort.

The Sr. boys played hard and well in the first quarter, but incredible shooting by Star City, including a high percentage of three pointers made and excellent free throw shooting was too much for the Sr. boys to overcome.  They never quit but could not catch up.

Lumberjack basketball teams will face Crossett Tuesday, February 5th on Sr. night, when the Warren Seniors will be honored.  The game will be a home game for Warren but will be played at Fordyce, due to the work ongoing on the Warren gym.  Warren fans are urged to make the short drive to Fordyce and support the Lumberjacks in basketball.
The Lady Jacks battle hard.
