Lady Jacks Soccer Clinches First Ever Conference Title With Epic Win Monday Evening

The Lady Jacks storm the field following the victory.
The 2016 4-4A Conference Championship was wrapped up outright by the Warren Lady Jack Soccer Club Monday evening as the Lady Jacks defeated Episcopal Collegiate through penalty kicks after a 2-2 draw at Jim Hurley, Jr. Stadium.

Denisha Stallings found the back of the net midway through the first half to give the Lady Jacks a 1-0 lead.  Episcopal Collegiate responded soon afterwards however.  The game was even at 1-1 at the halftime break.

Goalkeeper Karen Linares makes a
PK save.
A tense and extremely competitive second half gave fans all they paid for on the night.  It looked as though things would go straight to PK’s with the game still at 1-1 with under five minutes to play.  Heartbreak set in with just for minutes to go for Warren fans however as Episcopal found a breakthrough to end the deadlock and go up 2-1.  The Lady Jacks saw an incredible chance pass with only two minutes remaining.  It looked as though that would be the story of the night, close, but not quite.  To the rescue came Warren’s Hannah Richey, who poked home a scrambled ball in the box to even the score at 2-2 with only 32 seconds left in the match.  That was the end of regulation.

The game would come down to penalty kicks.  After five PK’s things were even at 2-2, so sudden death PK’s would have to settle it.  Episcopal was denied by a marvelous save from Warren’s keeper Karen Linares. Anne Yepes sealed the victory for Warren by dispatching her PK into the back of the net.

The win marks an outright and the first ever 4-4A conference title for Head Coach Steven Quoss’s Lady Jacks Soccer Club which has put on an impressive undefeated season to this point and will head to the State Tournament in the coming weeks.
