A-State Set to Play in New Orleans Bowl Dec. 19

Arkansas State football is headed to their fifth straight bowl game. According to ESPN’s Brent McMurphy, A-State has accepted an invitation to play in the New Orleans Bowl on Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. The game will be played inside the Mercedes Benz Superdome.

The Red Wolves have made four straight appearances in the GoDaddy Bowl, and compiled a 2-2 record in the bowl game, but will finally have a change of scenery this bowl season. A-State’s lone previous appearance in the New Orleans Bowl came on Dec. 20, 2005 when they lost at the hands of Southern Miss 31-19.

A-State’s opponent for the New Orleans Bowl is still to be announced, but the opponent will come from the C-USA, as both the C-USA and the Sun Belt are contracted to place a team in the bowl game through the 2019 season.

The Red Wolves will look to clinch the outright Sun Belt title on Saturday before turning their attention to the New Orleans Bowl. The Red Wolves will take on Sun Belt foe Texas State at 2 p.m. inside Centennial Bank Stadium.
