JONESBORO, Ark. (3/8/16) – The defending Sun Belt Conference champion Arkansas State football team is set to open its 2016 spring camp Wednesday, March 9, and will conduct 15 practices, including two scrimmages and its annual spring game, over a six-week period.
With the exception of a 7:00 p.m. scrimmage at Little Rock’s War Memorial Stadium on Friday, April 8, all A-State practices will start at 4:00 p.m. The Red Wolves will play their spring game at Centennial Bank Stadium on Friday, April 15, at 4:00 p.m. as well.
A-State, which returns 57 lettermen and eight All-Sun Belt selections, will hold its initial two workouts this Wednesday and Friday. Three midyear signees will take part in spring camp as well, along with Alabama transfer Dee Liner (Jr., DE) and former TCU player Cameron Echols-Luper (Jr., ATH) who are now eligible for the 2016 campaign after redshirting last year.
The Red Wolves will hold three additional workouts March 14, 16 and 18 before Arkansas State University’s spring break week. Their first scrimmage will be played next Friday, March 18, and the team will resume its spring camp Wednesday, March 30.
Three additional practices scheduled for April 1, 4 and 6 will be conducted before the Red Wolves hold their scrimmage in Little Rock. A-State’s remaining workouts are set for April 11, 13 and 14 before it plays its spring game on April 15. The Red Wolves will conclude their spring camp with one final player-run practice.
Season tickets for the Red Wolves’ 2016 football campaign, which includes six home games, are now available for purchase. The renewal period for current season ticket holders is also underway with a deadline of April 1. Arkansas State has strung together 11 consecutive years with a winning home record dating back to 2005 and has won 26 of its last 30 games at Centennial Bank Stadium.
