Monticello Team Wins Ladies’ Golf Tournament

 The team of Robin Johnson and Diane Pennington of Monticello shot even par 72 to win the Championship Flight of the Warren Ladies Pink Tomato Scramble Wednesday, July 13, at Warren Country Club.  Two other teams also shot 72 but were carded for second and third.
Placing second were Gail Eubanks and Sonia Barker of Smackover, and third was the team of  Nancy Vittitow of Warren and Becky Carmichael of Monticello.  

In the First Flight, the team of Jo Stein and Carolyn Elliott of Monroe, LA, won first
in a “card-off”  among three teams with a score of 78.  Second were Guina Elliott and Susan
Cole of Monroe.  Placing third was the team of Anne Cody of Calion and Maxine Canterberry of
El Dorado.

Three teams shot 83 in the Second Flight with Brenda Rast and Kay Martin of Camden placing first.  Coming in second were Joen Bryant and Glenetta Burks, a Warren team.  The Fordyce team of Wanda Grice and Nell Williams placed third.                  

Other Warren players were Vicky Stewart and her partner, Karen Spears of Monroe;
and the team of Lisa Higgins and Memory Frazer.

The prize for Longest Drive of the Day went to Sonia Barker.   Straightest and Longest
Drive was won by Carolyn Elliott, and Susan Cole got the Closest-to-the-Pin prize.

Glenetta Burks and Joen Bryant co-chaired the event.  Vicky Stewart chaired the
Breakfast Committee, and Nancy Vittitow chaired Snacks Committee with  Memory Frazer and Lisa Higgins in charge of water and soft drinks on the course.  Play was followed with a
salad luncheon provided by Brandi Harvey and Heather Foley, staff of Warren Country Club

Sponsors of the tournament were Arkansas Superior Federal Credit Union,
Union Bank, Warren Bank,  Gannaway’s Drug Store, Johnson’s Hardware, Lumberjack Saw, Mane Event, Massey’s Florist, Mitchell Lumber Company, O’Reilly’s Auto Parts, Pro Nails, Shelter Insurance, and Sissy’s Log Cabin of Pine Bluff.

              Members of the Men’s Golf Association furnished carts for the event, and cart
“valets” for the day were Joe Burks, III, Doyle Ozment, and Larry Stewart.
