Jacks Defeat Bulldogs, 47-14

     The Warren Lumberjacks received the opening kickoff and drove the length of the field.  A 23-yard pass from Hayden Lassiter to Kemontre' McKnight put Warren's first touchdown of the night on the scoreboard.  Sergio Yepes was successful on the extra point, and Warren took a 7-0 lead.

     On the ensuing kickoff, Star City took the ball and drove down the field and was able to get inside the Lumberjack 5-yard line.  The Bulldogs attempted a pass on 4th down, and Carrington Gilbert knocked the ball incomplete. Warren took over on downs.

     After a run for basically no gain by Dennis Daniels, Star City intercepted a Lumberjack pass at the Warren 21-yard line.

     Early in the second quarter, Star City attempted a field goal.  It was blocked by the Lumberjacks. Warren took possession of the ball.  They moved down the field. The drive resulted in a 7-yard touchdown pass, Lassiter to Jamalichi Kinnard.  The extra point by Yepes was success.  Warren advanced their lead to 14-0.

     Late in the second quarter, Lassiter threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Treylon Burks. Yepes made the PAT, and Warren led at halftime 21-0.

     Opening the second half, Warren kicked off to Star City. The defense played very well and stopped the Bulldogs, forcing them to punt.  Warren then drove down again, and Dennis Daniels scored on a 1-yard touchdown run.  The extra point by Yepes was good.  Warren led 28-0.

     On the next series, Star City drove the ball to midfield and scored on a 50-yard touchdown run.  The extra point was good.  Warren led 28-7.

     On the following kickoff, Dennis Daniels returned the ball 99 yards for a Warren touchdown.  The extra point was missed, and the score was 34-7 Warren.  With 36 seconds left in the third quarter, Lassiter connected with Kinnard for a 16-yard touchdown pass.  The extra point hit the upright and bounced off.  Warren led 40-7.

     In the fourth quarter with 10:06 left in the game, Davis Pennington picked up a fumble and raced 55-yards and raced for a Warren touchdown.  Yepes made the extra point, and Warren led 47-7.  Late in the game, with Warren playing of second stringers, with Warren trying to get everyone in the game, Star City moved down and scored a final touchdown.  With the extra point, the score was 47-14.  The Lumberjacks ran out the remaining time with their second-team offense on the field.

     Lassiter was 16 out of 26 passing the football for 258 yards and four touchdowns.  He had one interception.  Daniels, who ran the ball a season low, four carries, had 40 yards and one rushing touchdown.  Quarterback Lassiter had 7 carries for 96 yards.

     Warren is now 5-0 for the season and 2-0 in conference play.  They will face the Dumas Bobcats next Friday night for Homecoming.  Dumas is a much-improved team and is playing very well.
