Lumberjacks Roll To 7-0

The Warren Lumberjacks traveled to DeWitt Friday night to face a struggling Dragon team.  DeWitt proved no match for Warren as the Lumberjacks left town with a 54-8 victory.  Coach Hembree played a lot of second team players in the second half as the clock rolled due to the sportsmanship rule. The younger players performed well for Warren.

With the Jacks working on their passing game heavily, at the 4:43 mark of the first quarter Hayden Lassiter hit Kemontre McKnight for a touchdown.  The PAT by Sergio Yepes was good, and Warren took a 7-0 lead.  Later, D'Shawn Jackson had a touchdown run, and with another successful point after by Yepes, Warren was up 14-0.

In the second quarter Hayden Lassiter passed to Treylon Burks for 36 yards and a TD, and Yepes made the PAT.  Warren was up 21-0.  Later in the quarter, Lassiter threw a 90-yard touchdown screen pass to Dennis Daniels.  After a poor snap the extra point was not successful.  Still in the second quarter Lassiter connected with McKnight for another touchdown pass, and Yepes made the score 34-0 in favor of the Lumberjacks.
After an interception of a DeWitt pass by D'Shawn Jackson, Carrington Gilbert ran a touchdown in from the one-yard line, and Yepes converted to put Warren ahead 41-0 at the half.

With the second team in to start the second half, Jamalachi KInnard, in at quarterback, threw another touchdown pass to McKnight, and Yepes was good to make the score 48-0.  With 2:18 remaining in the third quarter, DeWitt scored on Warren's second defense and with a successful two-point play, the score was Warren 48 DeWitt 8.

In the fourth quarter, Kinnard threw a 30-yard touchdown pass to Vincent Stepps.  With a new kicker in the game, the PAT was not good, and Warren lead 54-8.  With the clock running continually, the game ended soon afterward.

Warren next faces a Monticello team that has shown it can be very competitive throughout the season.  The game will be played at Monticello.
