UAM Volleyball falls in straight sets


SEARCY, Ark. – The University of Arkansas at Monticello volleyball team lost in straight sets on the road to Harding Tuesday night. The Blossoms battled to hold leads in the second and third sets, but were unable to take down the Lady Bisons, falling 3-0.

Harding controlled the first set winning 25-10, but UAM battled early in the second set.

The Blossoms went back-and-forth with Harding in the second set until the Lady Bisons scored six straight points to go ahead, 16-9. UAM answered with two quick points, but HU then went on a 9-2 run to win the set 25-13.

In the third set, UAM challenged Harding again early knotting it up at 10 after a 4-0 run. The Blossoms would take a 12-11 lead before another six point run for the Lady Bisons. The Blossoms tried to battle back but HU answered each time to win the set 25-17.

Faith Wilemon led the team in kills with eight, while Mikaela Brown followed with four. Taylor Calhoun, Isabelle Combs and Madison Kleewein tallied three kills apiece as well.

Katie Pearson spread the ball around for UAM totaling 19 assists.

On defense, Katelyn Richbourg and Combs managed 11 and eight digs, respectively.

UP NEXT

UAM will travel to Russellville, Arkansas to face Arkansas Tech on Tuesday, February 2. First serve is set for 6 p.m.
