RazorbackSoccer Part Of SEC History Thursday Against Creighton

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas women’s soccer team will get its lone tune-up before the 2014 season on Thursday night as it hosts BIG EAST Conference foe Creighton for an exhibition contest seen live on SEC Network+. Kick-off from Razorback Field is set for 7 p.m.

Arkansas will be part of SEC history on Thursday night, which will be the opening night of the highly-anticipated SEC Network. The game will be shown in full on SEC Network+ (SECNetwork.com & WatchESPN App) with live look-ins prior to and during the game on the SEC Network (TV).

In celebration, the Razorbacks will host a SEC Network Launch Party FREE to the public beginning at 4:30 p.m. inside Razorback Field. Razorback Spirit Squads, student-athletes and coaches from all of the sports programs will attend and fans will have the unique opportunity to tailgate inside stadium as the soccer team prepares to kick off the 2014 season. The first 200 in attendance to the Launch Party will receive FREE food and a Razorback T-shirt and the opportunity to win other great prizes given away throughout the evening.  In addition, several local radio stations will broadcast live from the pregame tailgate party, including a DJ from Power 105.7.

The Razorbacks are coming off a record-setting 2013 season that saw the team collect the most regular season wins in school history (15) and the programs first-ever NCAA Tournament victory. Arkansas will look to improve on those achievements this year as they enter one of the most anticipated seasons in program history.

Arkansas returns 20 players that accounted for 102 of the team’s 136 points from a team that went 15-8-1 and 5-6 in Southeastern Conference play. Of the 12 different players that scored a goal last year, eight return to make up 82 percent (36-of-44) of the goals.

Creighton is fresh off its first season in the BIG EAST, as they posted a 9-8-1 overall record and a 2-6-1 mark in league play. The Bluejays return nine starters, including last year’s leading goal scorer Kirstyn Corder, who posted seven goals last year.
