Lumberjacks Complete Perfect Regular Season

Treylon Burks powers through tackles and churns his way to a Lumberjack touchdown.
The Warren Lumberjack football team completed another undefeated regular season Thursday night, November 3rd with a 42-0 win over the struggling Dollarway Cardinals.  It was senior night/scholar athlete night and all senior and scholar football players, cheerleaders and band members were introduced prior to the kickoff. The National Anthem was sung by the Lumberjack 6-12 choir.  A very good crowd was on hand for the game as the Lumberjacks finished with sole possession of the conference 8-4A Championship.
Hayden Lasiter turns upfield.

The Jacks won the toss and elected to receive.  Very shortly thereafter, running back Byron Person, starting in place of Dennis Daniels, ran 20 yards for a touchdown, and Sergio Yepes made the point after as Warren jumped to a quick 7-0 lead. Daniels did not dress out as Coach Hembree rested him, and Carrington Gilbert due to being banged up from the Hamburg game a week ago.

Dollarway had a good kickoff return and drove the ball to the Warren six yard line where they were held on downs.  A big play was made by De'vonta Brown on third down and a fourth down pass was incomplete.  The Lumberjacks moved quickly as Hayden Lassiter hit Braden Hargis with a 58-yard pass and a very good run after the catch.  Lassiter then threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Keemontrae Mcknight, who made a great run after the catch.  Yepes added the PAT, and Warren was up 14-0.  The Lumberjack defense stood firm firm with big hits by Psavian Person and forced Dollarway to punt.  Warren took over on their own 14.  Dollarway then intercepted a pass, but Keemontrae McKnight returned the favor and intercepted for Warren at midfield  With 1:20 left in the first quarter, Hayden Lassiter hit Treylon Burks with a 21-yard pass for a touchdown, and Yepes was good to make the score 21-0 in favor of the Lumberjacks. Burks made a powerful run to score after the catch.  The Cardinals returned the kickoff to the Warren 40 but were held on downs at the Lumberjack 31.
The Lumberjack defense hung tough all night.  Da'Vonta Brown and Wallace Smith were too tough to handle.

In the second quarter, freshman Vincent Stepps had a 33-yard run and later J'malachi Kinnard, now in at quarterback, was abut to score from the two yard line but fumbled into the enzone. Fortunately for
Greyson Aschraft is a beast on defense.
the Lumberjacks, Braden Hargis alertly fell on the ball for a touchdown.  Yepes was again good and Warren stretched the lead to 28-0.  Warren then recovered the ensuing kickoff as Luke Gorman fell on the ball.  Moments later Kinnard, still in at quarterback threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Hayden Lassiter, who had lined up at wide receiver.  Yepes stayed perfect and Warren was up 35-0 invoking the sportsmanship rule allowing the clock to keep running.  Dollarway requested the rule be used, rather than waiting for the second half to begin.

The Lumberjacks kicked off to begin the second half and Keemontrae McKnight made an outstanding tackle deep in Dollarway territory.  The Warren defensive front made a great play behind the line of scrimmage forcing a fumble which was recovered by Warren's Avery Rhoden for a touchdown.
Yepes made the PAT and Warren was up 42-0.  The game clock moved rapidly due to the sportsmanship rule.  With Warren playing second and third team players on offense

and defense, time ran out with the final score remaining 42-0.  Warren did recover another fumble as Masten Frazer fell on the ball at Dollarway's 20-yard line.  Freshman Logan Mann got in a few snaps at quarterback as did most if not all 9th graders.  Also getting some carries was Damarcus Gilbert.
Byron Peron finds the gap and rushes through it for the Lumberjacks.
Warren now enters the 2016 playoffs.  The first game is set for Friday November 11, 2016 at Jim Hurley, Jr. Stadium against Jonesboro Westside out of class 3-4A.  They are the fifth seed from the conference.  Kickoff is set for 7:00 P.M.  A large crowd is expected for the beginning of a strong run by the Lumberjacks for a state title against the best teams in class 4-A.
Keemontrae McKnight had an awesome game including an interception.
