A standing room only crowd was present Friday night, February 2nd at Lumberjack Gym for basketball games between the Lumberjack and Monticello Billies boys and girls Jr. and Sr. teams.
The Jr. Billie girls won a close contest over the Warren Jr. Girls 31-27. The Warren Jr. boys pulled one out of the fire on a last second shot to won 30-29. Quinn Payne hit the buzzer beater for the Jr.
Jacks as the gym erupted.
On the Sr. level, the Warren girls won in a close contest 54-53 as they held off Monticello on the last shot. The Sr. Warren boys also won a squeaker by the score of 45-43. It was a hard fought contest throughout.
Lumberjack teams will play nest week beginning Tuesday evening, February 6th at Hamburg, followed by a make up game with McGehee Thursday night, February 8th at Warren and will wrap up regular season play Friday, February 9th at Warren against Crossett.
The Jr. High District tournament will be held in Monticello and the Sr. tournament will be played in Dumas. Times will be announced on salineriverchronicle.com.
