Lumberjacks Defeat Star City

The Lumberjacks won a big conference game on the road Tuesday night, at Star City.  The Bulldogs were 1 & 1 in conference play and the Jacks were 0 & 2, coming into the game. First  quarter started out quick as both teams, came out finding ways to put the ball in the hole, Jacks take a 1st qtr. lead 18 to 14. In the second quarter, we stopped doing what had been working and started trying to shoot threes, and allowed Star City to take the lead at the half, 27 to 25.
After  the halftime talk and refocusing the team , we came back out and set the tone for the second half, with defensive pressure and attacking the glass and forcing the Bulldogs to try and stop our inside play. The Fighting Lumberjacks, outscored  the Bulldogs 22 to 5 in the third qtr., to regain the lead and keep it for the remainder of the game. Third qtr. score was 47 to 32. Darveon Brown lead the scoring with 20 points, Ryan Clary and Lafoy Smith added 10 each, as five other Lumberjacks got into the scoring column. Ryan, Lafoy, Rashun Franklin and Terrez Hampton did a good job rebounding and limiting their second chance opportunities. I thought I depth showed up better tonight, especially at the guard spots and keeping the pressure on their shooters. As we, outscored them, by 20 points in the second half. Warren is now 3 & 5 on the season and 1 & 2 in conference play.
Next up for Warren is a home game Friday night, against the Dollarway Cardinals, Jr. Girls start the night at 5:30 pm followed by the Sr. girls and then Sr. Boys. Please come out and support the Jacks in this very important 8-4 A matchup! At half time of the Sr. Boys game we will have the  TOTS (Teams of Tomorrow) put on at ballhandling display, so please come out and be supportive of these futre Ladyjacks and Lumberjacks. Go Jacks!!
